Llevo — privacy (test version)
The note every tester sees before adding anything. Last updated 16 August 2026.
Before you add anything to Llevo
Llevo is an early test version of a family recipe and meal-planning app. Here's what happens to what you put in it. It's short on purpose — please read it.
What Llevo stores
Your email address, and the things you type in: your recipes, meal plans, shopping lists and the meals you log.
One part deserves its own sentence. If you fill in who's in your household, Llevo keeps that list: an age group (adult, child or toddler) and a diet (vegetarian, vegan, or none) for each person — with a name only if you choose to add one. We treat that list as the most sensitive thing Llevo holds, because a diet next to a name can say something about a person's health or religion, and a child can't agree to any of this themselves. So: names are optional on purpose (the app works identically without them), the list never leaves Llevo's own database and is never sent to the AI — the planner only ever receives counts, like "3 in the household, 1 vegetarian", never anyone's age — and it's deleted with your household.
What it doesn't
No location. No advertising, ever. No tracking: Llevo doesn't follow you around the internet and doesn't build a profile of you.
One honest detail about email. The links that sign you in are delivered by Brevo, an email company — Llevo signs you in by emailed link, so Brevo processes your email address each time you sign in. Its delivery statistics are set to anonymous: it can count that sign-in emails get opened and clicked, but those clicks aren't tied to you.
One thing Llevo does keep, so it can tell when it's broken
A short technical note each time it does something — that an import ran, roughly how long it took, whether it worked, and if the app crashes, what crashed. Never what's in your recipes, never what you typed, never what you said to the planner. It's counts and error messages, nothing you'd recognise as yours. It lives in the same private database as everything else, only your household can see it, and it's deleted when your household is. It's there so we notice a problem before you have to report one.
Who can see your data
Only the people in your household. Households are kept separate from one another — nobody outside your household can see your recipes, plans or lists. Your data is stored in the United Kingdom.
Where AI comes in
Two features send text to Anthropic, the company behind the Claude AI: importing a recipe (so the app can read it into a clean format) and the planner chat (so it can suggest meals). The text travels from your device to Llevo's own server function and on to Anthropic — no other company sits in that path. When that happens:
- Anthropic processes the text on Llevo's behalf to make the feature work.
- It is not used to train any AI model.
- Anthropic doesn't keep it once the feature has run — with one honest exception: if their automated safety systems flag something, they may hold it for up to 2 years.
- The processing happens outside the UK (Anthropic can't guarantee which country), under a data-processing agreement with the standard clauses used to protect UK data sent abroad.
If you never use Import or the planner, none of your text goes to Anthropic.
What deleting your account does
Ask us and we'll delete the Llevo data tied to you — including your household's people list and the technical notes above. One honest exception, so you're not surprised later: anything you added to a shared household — recipes, plans, shopping items — stays with that household, because it belongs to the household rather than to you alone. To remove that too, the household members would delete it, or the household itself can be deleted.
And anything already sent to Anthropic is out of Llevo's hands: they don't keep it by default, but deleting your account can't reach back and wipe it from their systems.
